The police are using very advanced methods in order to find even the slightest leach they can use to bust them.
Something like this happened when Joaquin Guzman was busted. The marines finally located him and surrounded the area.
They busted him in his condo without a single shot fired.
Thankfully Daniel Becerril, a photographer, was there to walk through this incredible finding.

He seemed prepared and knew that someday this will happen. The clever thinking and fast work of the marines prevented him from escaping.
